Held in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec, Canada, 4X is one of the most spectacular events of the Championships. 4X racing is held on a giant gravity fed BMX track built into the side of a hill and racers start in gates of four riders.

32 of the world's best 4X riders will compete for the title at 9pm Friday night local time (GMT-4).
Geof Franks, Daniel's father, reported that the 4X track was more reminiscent of a downhill track than a BMX track.

"It's a very rugged course," he said. "It has one downhill rock section that is going to be exciting to watch if riders hit it two or three wide, because there's really only one clean fast line."

Danny punctured three times in the rock section in an hour of practice yesterday, he said.

"As a consequence I went to the Maxxis tent this morning and we've fitted downhill Minion tyres and tubes to his DJ for the 4X. I'm pleased to say that today's practice was uneventful," Franks said.
In the qualifying Daniel finished 11th and only 1.8-seconds off the fastest seed.

"To be fair, both Jared Graves and Mikel Prokop would probably have been way clear of the field [if they had not punctured], but seeding 11th improves Danny's draw for tomorrow's racing," he said.

The first seed races 15, 16, and 32, and so on through the field. So each moto has two of the quicker seeds (who are expected to go through), and two of the slower qualifiers.

"The huge fear was that he'd end up drawing Graves or Prokop as a slow qualifier, but fortunately that's not the case," his dad Geof laughed.
