The Whistler Gran Fondo to be held on September 11, 2010 will take riders from Vancouver to Whistler along the famouse Sea to Sky corridor. This will be the first large scale, fully supported ride along the newly upgraded Sea to Sky highway - Hwy 99 - from Vancouver to Whistler. With breathtaking views of Howe Sound, challenging climbs through the Coast Mountain Range and more downhill than you'd expect, this ride will impress and inspire like none other.

Event registrations opened just before Christmas and the sign up rate has been huge-it promises to be a very exciting event. For this inaugural event, all participants will be recognized as a Founding Rider. You can sign up to ride solo, or like many riders, you can organise a team of up to 9 participants.

The Whistler GranFondo is the brainchild of TOIT Events, a small sport event company who had a crazy vision to shut down traffic on the Sea to Sky Highway for a day and have a bike race. Kevin Thomson and Neil McKinnon joined forces in TOIT Events in 2008 and focused primarily on road running events. But the allure of a never before done cycling event on the brand new Sea to Sky Hwy was a challenge and a dream worth pursing. With a team of individuals who love a challenge, the Sea to Sky Ride has come to life.
It appears that their 'crazy' vision is shared by many, many riders!!!! Get on board-this one is going to the talk of the Vancouver-Whistler corridor for many months and years to come.
