The UCI World Cycling Tour was announced today, a new tour for 2011 that has been created for amateur racers. At the moment there are seven confirmed events with plans on up to fifteen events that will end with an age group World Championships. The age group World Championships will take place from September 10 to the 11th, 2011 in Belgium.

Pat McQuaid, president of the UCI said, "We want the amateur cyclist who is devoted to the sport to have a taste of high level racing and ultimately race for a World Champion title. the UWCT is how we are going to take amateur cycling to the next level. We are really looking forward to the opening of the series."

April 14 & 16 - Perth, Australia
May 8 - Gran Fondo New York, USA
May 15 - Gran Fondo Eddy Merckx Village Palmela, Portugal
June 12 - Marathon Franja BTC, Slovenia
June 18 - Gran Fondo Eddy Merckx, Belgium
August 20 & 21 - Echelon Gran Fondo Colorodo, Fort Collins, USA
September 10-11 - World Championships, Liege, Belgium
