WinterBike 2012 was a great night-no doubt there are some sore heads in Vancouver this morning!
Thanks to everyone who made it happen including sponsors, volunteers and others behind the scenes. This was the second annual event for WinterBike and we'll definitely be back in 2013!
What was it? A networking party for all those involved behind the scenes in making cycling happen in BC. There was a real cross range of bike shops, suppliers, advocacy groups, volunteers, pro-riders, event organizers, clubs and of course, Cycling BC. It was an opportunity to break news to the industry, including new events and other such as To Catch A Bike Thief. Cycling BC handed out various awards and also there was a new feature-the WinterBike awards for Unsung Hero, Best Photographer/Videographer and Best BC Event which anyone could vote on via FaceBook.
With some wicked prizes handed out including a free BC Bike Race entry, tons of swag from Cycles Lambert, Dirty Girl Designs, Urban Racks, Kicking Horse Resort, Outdoor Gear Canada, Riding Fool Hostel and others such as Nimby 50 and Obsession Bikes,everyone had a great time, despite Dave Norona on the mic (only kidding Dave!). Even better were Kokanee Crankworx and their girls handing out free beer and crazy shooters at the bar! Thanks Darren K!
Started over a beer (or two) in Vancouver in late 2010, CCN approached others in the cycling community to see if they would get involved. BC Bike Race, Canawrap, GranFondo Canada, Mountain Bike Tourism Association and Vancouver Bike Show all jumped on board to make it happen.
Thanks again to all the sponsors and for coming! And as Kevin T. would say-there is a roadie in all of us!
